Major Hindu pilgrimage destinations include Char Dham (Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamunotri), 12 Jyotirlingas, Varanasi, Mathura, Ayodhya, Dwarka, Puri Jagannath, and Rameshwaram.

The Char Dham Yatra usually opens in April/May and closes in October/November. The best time is May–June and September–October for pleasant weather.

Most temples do not require permits. However, certain locations like Kedarnath Helicopter rides or Nathula Pass (if included in a trip) require special permits arranged in advance.

Carry comfortable clothes, warm layers for hill temples, personal medications, ID proofs, and a reusable water bottle. Modest attire is recommended for temple visits.
